The Visual Timekeeper
Welcome

James Babcock is my name, and I am a drummer living in Northern Alberta, Canada. I am  looking for a full time band to work with near my hometown, or even far far away if necessary. I have a good amount of stage and studio experience and enjoy learning new things about my instrument each day. I have great energy and a lot of drive and passion to offer to the right group of people!

I am always looking for interesting musical projects to be involved in. I have the capability to record live drum tracks in my home with some great gear and am learning some great production skills along the way as well. Drop me a line on the Contact Me page if you are looking for a drummer to fill in on a gig or two, record some tracks for you, or just jam for some fun.

The music player on this site will have some samples of sessions I am currently working on with other musicians across the globe through some Internet collaboration sites I am taking part in. As these sessions get finalized different mixes will be uploaded.

Another step towards a great band and tour

Rehearsal space is finalized and rehearsal with Kyle Lamb begins on February 20th! There is also a tentative booking in mid August on Vancouver Island, with many more dates to come as the band lineup is finalized and things are sounding like the kick ass band this needs to be.

Forward Momentum

Looks like the Kyle Lamb band is one step closer to completion. We have a Lead Guitar player now! The hunt is back on for a bass player and a fiddle player.  Things are going well and we should be rehearsing by mid February.

New Opportunities on the horizon

It's been a while since my last update. I have been busy with my friends in Before The Fire recording some new songs and breaking in their new guitarist Lance to the joys of being ready to play in the studio.

I have also been working with some friends of mine on a new cover band that will be playing shows in the High Prairie area come spring/summer. Once we have a finalized song list and a band name I will get a website built with more information on this project.

Another project that may materialize this winter is with a friend of mine that used to live in Grande Prairie but now lives in Smithers B.C. He needs a drummer to lay down some tracks for some of his own music, just waiting for the word on that one. Sounds like fun so far.

I have signed on to work with a local country artist as his drummer. His name is Kyle Lamb and the music is kick ass modern country. I have been charting out and practicing the song list for a few weeks now and am enjoying the challenge of learning new songs. Here is a video link to an older song of Kyle's. This is not me playing on this recording, but if things work out we will be cutting some drums as the winter rolls on and the band lineup is finalized and have worked together a bit. Kyle has several new songs in the works and the ones I have heard are damn catchy and will be catching the attention of radio once they are finished.

Looks like 2010 is going to get off to a rip roaring start! Happy New Year and the best to you and yours throughout 2010.
